A "Hero's Journey" in the San Rafael Swell for 10/10/10Our journey begins on a short three-night adventure with a group of high school students from East High, Salt Lake City. We will be embarking on a journey together and discovering the power found in each one of us to find solutions to the ecological inequities that we see in our communities. Who knew that a journey of this type would start in the San Rafael Swell?

BlogHiking Through Desolation We will hike from Sand Wash to Green River, UT: Twelve days down the Green River through the canyon that Powell considered "a region of wildest desolation."
A Radio Show and a Parade of Horribles in Moab Sara Melnicoff, of Moab Solutions, and Erin Olschewski, the president of Grand County High School's Earth Club combat the demons of excess consumption and trash in their daily lives. This year, they're taking to the streets. Drawing on the long tradition of Halloween as a day for costumes and masks to drive out evil spirits, they are kicking of Halloween by asking people to join them on a walk through Moab dressed as the evil threats to our earth—a literal and figurative parade of horribles.
So, pull out your greatest representation of an eco-threat and join us to walk with the Grand County Earth Club’s parade of horribles.
We will meet at Swanny Park at 4:00 PM on October 31.

Recapture Lodge in BluffWe will end our journey in Bluff, enjoying the hospitality and the group of friends pulled together by Jim Hooks, the owner of Recapture Lodge. It will be an evening of reflection, and motivation for how to undertake the more serious and arduous journey toward getting effective legislation passed that will address climate change.
